Staying in the royal winter playground of Klosters this tour offers outstanding mountain scenery as well as visits to Austria and Italy. The highlight of the trip is the wonderful journey on board the Bernina Express, the highest conventional train in Europe reaching an altitude of 7,400ft as we cross the breathtaking Bernina Mountains. The Alpine city of Chur offers both city life and enchanting mountain scenery with a mix of narrow, winding streets which sits amongst the unadulterated snow-capped mountains.

SATURDAY: After our early morning departure we travel to Dover for the ferry crossing into Calais. Continue to Reims for our overnight hotel.

SUNDAY: Crossing into Switzerland we arrive at our resort of Klosters and our hotel for our five-night stay.

  • We head westwards to one of the smallest countries in Europe, Liechtenstein. We stop in the capital Vaduz, where there will be the opportunity to visit the Liechtenstein National Museum, which gives a fascinating insight into the history of this little country. We continue our journey to Chur where we join the Arosabahn for a return journey to Arosa. This lovely mountain railway takes us from the bustling town of Chur climbing 1000 metres over just 26 kilometres around tight curves and steep inclines.
  • Our excursion takes us along some of the most spectacular roads in Europe. We commence our ascent along the Flüela Pass to the Austrian border and the resort of Nauders, before traversing the magnificent Reschenpass into Italy. The route descends past the impressive Lake Reschen before we climb back into Switzerland, passing the beautiful Swiss National Park and its amazing scenery.
  • The highlight of our holiday is the spectacular Bernina Express train journey from Davos to Tirano. A high point of this journey is the panoramic view from the Bernina Express as it passes glaciers on its descent to a land of swaying palms. The journey goes through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges. The section between Thusis and Tirano has been classed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We disembark the train in Tirano and return to Klosters via the outstanding Flüela Pass.

FRIDAY: We leave Switzerland and enjoy the beautiful scenery before arriving at Reims for our overnight hotel.

SATURDAY: Travel to Calais for the return ferry crossing back to Dover. We continue homewards towards the Westcountry to arrive home early evening.
