The network of meandering rivers and open expanses of water that make up the Norfolk Broads creates an environment that is unique throughout Britain. The Norfolk Broads, Britain’s largest protected wetland, is packed with wildlife and rare plants and interlaced with dykes and rivers. The most important of these are the Bure, the Yare and the Waveney which, together with their principal tributaries the Ant and the Thurne, provide nearly 200 miles of navigable waterways.

SUNDAY: We depart the Westcountry and travel east making comfort stops along the way to arrive on the outskirts of Norwich and the Holiday Inn.

  • An excursion to the North Norfolk Heritage Coast to the wonderful Georgian market town of Holt, where we shall board ‘The Poppy Line’ for a heritage steam train ride with stunning views of the Norfolk countryside and coastline through to Sheringham, a traditional seaside town which grew up around its old fishing village, Continue to the coastal resort of Cromer, famous for its pier and tasty crabs.
  • We shall drive to Dereham to board the Mid Norfolk Railway, a standard-gauge preserved railway, running through the heart of rural Norfolk to Wymondham Abbey. Your coach will then take you into Norwich to complete the day.

We then board the ‘Broads Tours’ boat to enjoy a picturesque circular cruise along the Wroxham Barns where you can browse in the traditional craft and gift shops.
