MONDAY: We depart the Westcountry and travel north to the Pennines and the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel.

TUESDAY: Travel to Settle to enjoy a classic morning rail journey on the Settle to Carlisle Railway. Considered the most scenic rail journey in England. The journey takes us through moorland scenery and over the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. This afternoon will be spent in Hawes, home to the famous Wensleydale Cheese. A lot of things to do here, from browsing the traditional market to visiting the Wensleydale Creamery and the rope museum which makes things from barrier ropes, bannister ropes, pet accessories, dog leads, skipping ropes, clothesline and equestrian ropes. Travel back to our hotel via the Ribbleshead Viaduct – see it from a different angle, a great photo stop!

WEDNESDAY: Our morning will start with a visit to Barton Grange, a garden centre with a wow factor! It won the destination garden centre of 2019. From here, we enjoy a cruise on the Lancaster canal which cruises along the Lune aqueduct with its 5 majestic stone arches spanning the River Lune. This scenic cruise features attractive scenery and views of the Bowland Hills, not to mention the wildlife that abounds on the canal. We return to the chocolate house near Blackburn. We will be welcomed with chocolate buttons and truffles, enjoy live chocolate making demonstration and dark chocolate tasting. Sip on a cup of tea/coffee or their very own hot chocolate before mooching around the shop to buy some goodies to return home with!

THURSDAY: Hubble bubble, toil and trouble. Are you brave enough to hear a chilling tale that echoes down the ages? Today we experience an enlightening and informative half-day coach guided tour which tells the story of the most famous witchcraft trial in English history. We will hear about all the mystical legends and follow the route the Pendle Witches took through the Ribble Valley to Lancaster Castle where they stood trial. This afternoon we will visit Samlesbury Hall a beautiful half-timbered medieval house with a turbulent and dramatic history and now one of the most haunted locations in Britain.

FRIDAY: We depart our hotel and travel south to arrive home late afternoon/early evening.

Please Note: Admissions and fare are not included unless stated below.
